At the 2002 CB1100R meeting at Greifenstein in Germany the idea was born for a meeting in the UK. 5 Dutch 1100R owners visited a weekend organized by the CB1100R Owners Club. It was from Friday May 30th untill Sunday June 1st. Because of the ferry crossing the 5 of us Dutch 1100R riders went back home on monday June the 2nd.
We took the ferry from Hoek van Holland to Harwich friday early in the morning so we had all day to ride to the pub where the meeting took place (The Crown Inn at Abbots Bromley). It was organized that we were picked up by Andy Larkin who would show us some scenic roads to a meeting point near Peterborough where Bob Monchau would take over and lead us to the Crown Inn again taking nice roads.
The left one shows the bikes strapped down ready for the trip to the UK, the right one is where Andy Larkin left us, he's the guy in the middle.
On saterday a ride to Wales (the Horse Shoe pass) was organized. Superb riding there.
The left one is a stop on our way to Wales, for a drink. One in the middle at the Horse Shoe pass and on the right we're sitting in front of the Crown Inn tired after the ride.
Sunday we made a trip to Matlock where many bikers meet on sundays. Trip was great but Matlock itself as well. Unbelievable for us!
Monday was the trip back home. As we had the evening ferry we had all day but decided to take the motorways as much as possible to be sure we made it in time for the ferry. Apparently one gets lost easily on the way to the ferry :-) Bob Monchau (with Joy Pugh on the backseat) volunteered to be our guide for about half the trip. Made life easy for us as we only had to follow and not worry about finding our way.

All in all we had a superb weekend. Great to meet some UK owners, weather was perfect, we travelled some great roads and no major mishaps had happened. So something to repeat! Thank you all who made it possible for us!
